For the past two springs, the Trail Fund and the US Forest Service have partnered on a special event for newer donors – Pizza on the Patio.

It’s held at the Red Rock Ranger Station, where guests can connect with like-minded neighbors, meet the board directors and US Forest Service staff, and join a fun interactive game with District Ranger Alex Schuelter that helps us all better understand the different needs and perspectives that affect the forest.

How would the USFS build a pipeline around a trail?

How does the USFS keep livestock or wild game close to water while not impacting trail routes and access points?

How does the USFS accommodate home owners close to the trail who have developed their own social trail systems for a point of connection?

Alex dives into these questions and more, helping donors understand what laws are in place that the Forest Service must respect, and what authorities they have to do special projects.

Donors delight in pizza and cookies provided by the Fund, mingling on the outdoor patio with views of our beloved red rocks.

This spring season, the Trail Fund held two events, offering options for those with full calendars. We welcomed 17 donors, all who left (hopefully) happy with a swag bag and more informed as to how their precious dollars get spent.

Did you attend one of the events and have feedback? Please don’t hesitate to share it by emailing director@redrocktrailfund.org.

Hope to see you on the trails or the patio soon!
